We love making breakfast together and one of our favorites is French Toast. We use Challah bread and a thick custard for delicious, thick, sweet, satisfying breakfast. Serve these with eggs and bacon or fruit and whipped cream
1 loaf of challah bread cut into 1 inch slices
1/2 cup of all purpose flour
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups of milk
2 tbsp sugar
1.5 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp all spice
.5 nutmeg
a pinch of cloves
pinch of salt
Add eggs, flour, spices, sugar and salt to a medium size bowl and whisk vigorously until completely combined and there are no lumps.
Add in milk and whisk to combine.
Melt a pat of butter in a cast iron or non-stick pan. When the butter is bubbly dip a piece of challah into the custard coating completely. Remove and immediately add to your pan and cook on both sides until golden and brown.
Repeat until all the pieces are done. Serve with warm syrup.
